Appleyard & Co is a fantastic new food and wine bar/gallery in the centre of Norwich. The bar is bright and spacious, with a completely relaxed atmosphere. The decor is minimal, accented by the beautiful wooden counter where the food is displayed and huge windows so you can watch the world go by.
Co-owner Josh is a coffee maestro. Expect micro foam on your cappuccino and crema on your espresso. Enjoy your coffee with a slice of home-made cake from an ever-changing selection.
A cured ham stands proudly on its stand, and the meat is used in some of the sandwiches and also forms part of charcuterie platters to enjoy with a glass of wine in the evening. The daytime food is on a daily and fortnightly rotation, so you have two chances to get the home-made soup or gourmet sandwich that has caught your eye! There is always meat and vegetarian options of both soups and sandwiches. They are all made on the premises by the lovely Daniel, the other co-owner. Examples of his innovative cooking include Venison, Red Wine and Lentil or Ghanaian Groundnut soups, or a classic Pastrami Reuben sandwich on caraway bread.
The guys are huge fans of local produce, and the menu changes to reflect what's in season or particularly good that week. The ales are also from small and maybe lesser-known Norfolk breweries, which gives you a great excuse to try something new.
