Wareham
Wareham, Dorset
The attractive market town of Wareham is sandwiched between the rivers Piddle and Frome and dates from Saxon times. You can do a fine walk around its 10th-century walls, which gives views over the medieval town and across the waterfields beyond – pick up a leaflet on it from the tourist office in South Street. The town’s focal point is The Quay, from where you can head out along the river banks for a stroll or hire a boat (rowing or motor) and explore the waterways.
