The Blue Anchor
13 Lower Mall Hammersmith London W6 9DJ
The family-run Blue Anchor prides itself on being one of the oldest riverside pubs in Hammersmith – first licensed in 1722 and with an old-fashioned interior that looks the part, complete with old mahogany bar, ancient parquet flooring and rusty anchors decorating the walls. The crowd is a mixture of old English couples, tourists and the odd local coming here to have a drink or a bite to eat. A cosy place in winter, it comes into its own in summer, when you can bask in the sun at one of the blue-painted tables outside, while people-watching and enjoying the river run by.
