Forest Holidays Strathyre

Situated in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, just outside the appealing Perthshire town of Callander (the so-called 'gateway to the Highlands'), this is one of the Forest Holidays group's wilder locations – and a pretty scenic one at that, in the heart of the gorgeous Trossachs. But it does what all their sites do so well – tames the wilderness somewhat and makes it accessible, while still enabling you to feel in touch with nature. So basically, you can make your holiday as outdoorsy, as comfortable, or as challenging as you like.

There are 46 comfortable cabins spaced out around the site, either with a loch view or in a forested glade – each sleeps between 2 and 8 people, and some have been adapted for wheelchairs. All the cabins are extremely comfortable, equipped with full kitchens – while a hot tub on the deck really adds a bit of style to the whole experience and their Golden Oak Cabins also have log burners.

At the centre of the site, the Forest Retreat hub provides a bit of civilisation with its café and bar, shop and play area, bikes for hire, and wildlife-spotting and bushcraft activities with the Forest Rangers. And beyond there are loads of sights and adventures to choose from –  following birdwatching trails from the Lodge Forest Visitor Centre (spotting ospreys, peregrine falcons and more), joining the high-wire fun at the nearby Go Ape centre or visiting the nearby village of Aberfoyle, which gives access to some of the best Trossachs scenery and walking trails.
