Elan Valley is a collection of reservoirs in the heart of Mid Wales Cambrian Mountains. It offers great walking and wheelchair paths, suitable for all. Small cafe / info centre there is very good. Adventurous ones can walk up the mountains nearby. As for looks its better than the lakes!
