Bold colours, striking designs and an exuberant style set Ingleside House apart from many other hotels in The Cotswolds. Set in a Grade II-listed building in Cirencester, the exterior may share the honey-coloured hues that’ll be familiar to anyone who’s spent time exploring this pretty part of the world, but step inside and the honey turns to gold. There’s a deliberate Gatsby-esque style to this boutique hotel that makes it less twee and more ta-dah.

This super-stylish place to stay has 11 guest rooms ranging from the relatively simple king rooms to the lavish four-poster suite. But as we say the simplicity is relative here. Although the king rooms are the most compact, they still share the drama of the rest of the hotel with colours, textures, prints and lighting all contributing to a sumptuous feel. Step up to a super-king room for more space and choose “deluxe” for a free-standing bath in your room. Whichever you opt for, the quality of the place is told in the room inclusions: a radio from Roberts, coffee from a Nespresso machine and toiletries from Molten Brown.

All the drama of the rooms is amplified downstairs, where there’s a resident’s lounge, restaurant, piano bar and an associated theatre next door. More on that later, but for now there’s the important business of dinner and cocktails. These can be taken inside in the main Téatro restaurant, where pre-theatre and main menus are served to gold-topped tables, or outside on the heated terrace where a slightly simpler menu is on offer. On Fridays and Saturdays the place is brought alive with live music, but the plush velveteen upholstery, statement wallpaper and quirky object d’art mean it’s never dull in here.

A few steps from the front door, the 200-seater Barn Theatre hosts performances from touring theatre groups on a regular basis. Take a look at their own website for details and tickets. In addition, the shops, eateries and museums of Cirencester are five minutes’ walk away and beyond that, there’s all of the Cotswolds to explore. Country walks, cute villages and long pub lunches await within a short drive. These are the lovely days of a classic Cotswolds holiday — but they come with the promise of a return to something rather more luxe and lavish at Ingleside House.

Stylish Stay in the Cotswolds

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at the Old Gore a few miles north. The room was very large, and beautifully decorated in orange and blue; the bathroom alone was the size of some hotel rooms. The bed was huge and the air conditioning most welcome as I find hotel rooms can be too hot to sleep comfortably.

A Beautiful Hotel

Ingleside House is a beautiful hotel! We stayed in a very comfortable room which was stylishly decorated. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. Strongly recommend the on-site restaurant Téatro too!

A Great Place

Ingleside House far exceeded my expectations. All the staff were welcoming and polite. I stayed in a large room with a very comfortable bed and large bathroom, with boutique-style decor. Adequate parking opposite for a very low fee. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. Overall, I was very impressed.

A Lovely Overnight Stay

We stayed at Ingleside House for one night for a wedding in Cirencester. We were impressed with the decor and the quality of the lovely accommodation, as well as the fantastic breakfasts. Parking opposite was reasonably priced, and we were able to get a space easily.

What a Great Find

What a lovely hotel. Our room was perfect, so comfortable with excellent amenities. The food at breakfast and dinner was of a high standard, beautifully cooked and tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. Would only come back to Ingleside when next visiting the Cotswolds.

Couldn’t Fault It

We couldn’t fault our stay at Ingleside House. We were travelling with our 3-month-old baby and the staff kindly upgraded our room so we would have more space for the cot, and helped us lug our things up the stairs. Breakfast was amazing, so tasty and generous portions. Our room was nicely decorated and clean. The hotel is well located for exploring Cirencester if you have more time to do this!

Relaxing Weekend Break

Fantastic stay with top facilities. Having the restaurant and piano bar onsite was great. Spotless room and very friendly staff. 5* review from us. The Barn Theatre next door looked good too. We will definitely be returning.

Gorgeous Place to Stay

My Mum and I had an overnight stay here on a Sunday. Cirencester itself was so beautiful! The hotel was lovely and warm, all staff were friendly and offered to help with anything they could. The bed was super comfy and the bathrobes were a nice touch. Breakfast the next day was delicious and overall an amazing place to stay. We would love to come back again.

Would Highly Recommend for a Relaxing Stay

We had a very relaxing stay at Ingleside in a stunningly beautiful room that had thought of everything! I loved that there were hooks on the doors to hang coats (something often overlooked in hotels and holiday accommodation) and enough places to hang towels in the spacious bathroom too (another thing that is often lacking elsewhere). The room was big with a gorgeous superking size bed, a sofa to relax on as well as a desk area. We had a beautiful bathtub in the room too, which gave the room an extra wow factor. The location is great for exploring the Cotswolds. The restaurant was exquisite, and we really hope to return.

All I can say is wow!

All I can say is wow, what an amazing job Ingleside House has done. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by a lovely receptionist; I believe her name was Amy. She couldn't do enough for us. She took us up to our room it was lovely, clean and spacious with Molton Brown toiletries as well as a Nespresso machine. What more could you want :). All I can say is we will definitely be back. Thank you to all of the staff. We loved every minute of it.

Above and beyond

We had three wonderful days stay. Having booked the room by phone and then followed up with a booking for the Theatre with dinner beforehand and then dinner again. The whole process was straightforward and dealt with very efficiently, professionally and in a friendly manner by those I spoke to on the phone. All the staff we met from the moment we arrived until we left were very friendly and helpful. We were delighted with the room and facilities at the hotel. The breakfasts and dinners were all delicious and very much enjoyed. The parking across the road was very handy and we just paid for the 3 days and came and went on day trips. We also walked into town one day, which again was very easy. I know I had mentioned when booking that it was a special trip for my wife and I celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary. However, we did not anticipate the wonderful welcome from every member of staff we met congratulating us during our stay. The complimentary drinks and beautiful flowers were so thoughtful and generous. Everyone went above and beyond anything we could have asked for or expected. We left with the most wonderful memories of a lovely stay with you and hope to return again and take in a show too. We will also be recommending the hotel to friends and family should they be visiting Cirencester in the future.

Hope to return!

Just on our way home after a two-night stay. The room was spotless, and the facilities were great. Lovely bath products and great coffee machine - all very much appreciated. Huge television! The breakfast menu included was fantastic with juice, tea, coffee etc. We have full English breakfasts both days and couldn't fault them. Staff were all lovely and so helpful. Hope to return if we go back to the Cotswolds.

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at your lovely hotel – it was a complete treat after two very difficult months. Everything ran very smoothly – we were greeted warmly on arrival and our room exceeded our expectations. One of your team very kindly got our morning paper for us, using our voucher, on her way to work – amazing customer service. We can’t wait to return and, in the meantime, wish you the success that you very much deserve. We have already started to share with friends what a great hotel you are and encouraging them to book a stay.
