Set in fifteen acres of lush countryside, Warwickshire's Nailcote Hall is a former stately home, dating back to the seventeenth century and damaged by Oliver Cromwell’s troops in the English civil war. Now it’s a four-star hotel, spa and golf hotel, and a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay whether you like golf or not, with oak beams, a priest hole and a comfy sofa or two in the public areas . Despite its size this is a warm and cosy place.
They have 49 rooms and suites, most of them decorated in keeping with the period of the building, and very well equipped with crazy comfortable beds and great showers, flatscreen TVs with Sky, wifi and tea- and coffee-making facilities. They’re all of a good size and come with views of the lush countryside, the smell of fir trees and abundant peace and quiet. Dogs are very welcome in the ground floor rooms, giving easy access to the lawns and trees of the grounds beyond, and come with food and water bowls laid out on their own feeding mat. Dogs are also welcome throughout the rest of the hotel except for the fine dining restaurant, although you can eat with your dog in the bar.
As regards location, you're well placed for the quaint town of Kenilworth and its castle – home of John of Gaunt, Henry V and Elizabeth I’s number one squeeze Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester; the attractions of Leamington Spa; and the National Exhibition Centre is nearby, making it handy for trade shows, exhibitions, concerts, and – yes, dog lovers! – Crufts!
