Odeon Cinema
15 New Canal Salisbury SP1 2AA
As Odeon cinema's go this has got to be one of the oldest and coolest. Mainstream blockbusters are screened in a Grade II cinema that takes equal billing with the film. Built in the Twenties, it was styled in Tudor Gothic in honour of the 15th century wool merchant’s hall at its front, and remains a wonder even though modernisation into a five-screen venue has somewhat marred the decoration’s integrity. A normal cinema bar stocks pop-corn and the like and the space itself is, unsurprisingly, rather small. Locals grumble the sound quality can be medieval, too.
