Larmer Tree Gardens
Larmer Tree Rushmore Estate Office Tollard Royal SP5 5PT
Opened in the late 1800s by General Pitt Rivers as one of the first public gardens in the country, the Larmer Tree Gardens, situated in the very heart of rural England on the Dorset/Wiltshire border, retain a magical quality, dotted with huts, pavilions, follies and statues that make it a great year-round venue - for visits, events, weddings and more. There's a lovely broad main lawn, off which there are shrubs, areas of woodland, ponds and more. You can find your inner child (or fairy) by finding the Fairy Doors hidden on tree trunks, or just pop in for a picnic on the lawns. There's also a good café here serving soup, sandwiches and cakes, and in summer it's a perfect venue for two of the UK's best annual music festivals, the Larmer Tree, held in late July, and the End of the Road Festival, held at the end of August.
