Scott’s
The Old Iceworks Bath Place Margate Kent CT9 2BN
Draped over three floors of an enormous old ice factory, around the corner from Margate’s quirky Shell Grotto and just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, the ramshackle Scott’s was selling preloved treasures long before the nearby Old Town started filling its empty shopfronts with trendy vintage gear. This is a flea market in the traditional mould – totally without guile or pretension – and it yields all manner of unexpected delights, from 1930s wardrobes and sleek Olivetti typewriters to Edwardian Girls’ Own Annuals. Whether you’re kitting out your pad in Mid-Century Modern cool, or are simply after a kitsch frippery to remind you of your seaside jaunt, this is the place to come. Careful, though – you could lose yourself for hours.
