Straight from the dairy into the shop – there's no more fitting place to stock up on real Wensleydale cheese than the Hawes Creamery's on-site shop. You can visit it separately from the tour and visitor centre, and in many ways it's just as much an education, with staff eager to help you decide between the various cheeses, from Special Reserve to Oak-Smoked, by way of a whole array of blended specialities, whether it's cheese mixed with ginger or caramelised onion. You can taste pretty much anything before you buy too, while accompanying deli items include things like locally brewed ales, artisan chutneys and Yorkshire-made oils and vinegars.
