A lovely café with a most un-English feel – under soaring conservatory glass and vines no less, with a homemade, largely homegrown, vegetarian menu. Part of Helmsley Walled Garden, the Vinehouse wears its heart on its little green sleeves (and fingers), not only growing their own salad leaves, herbs, fruit and veg but recycling and composting like mad, and serving tap-water and organic fruit juices rather than anything fancy, bottled or imported. There's a daily changing café menu – soups, salad plates, hot dishes, cakes and cookies – and you can either sit under the vines or out in the sun on the terrace, with its lovely garden view.
