The Barrels Alehouse

A quirky bar that sums up the independent spirit of Berwick, the Barrels is the town's best real ale pub. But it's also so much more than that, with a laidback, continental feel that encourages long afternoons and late nights in the company of some great drinks. Half a dozen real ales sit centre stage, but there are also premium lagers, artisan ciders and a top-drawer range of spirits – of the two bars, we love the wine-bar-style front bar with its vintage paraphernalia and iconic music images. Live acts hold sway down in the cellar – there are really only two kinds of music here, that's rock and roll – and all in all, if it's a beer we want in Berwick, we look no further.
