Harley Gallery

Long the home of the powerful dukes of Portland, the Welbeck Estate occupies a large slice of woodland and grassland to the south of the town of Worksop in the heart of Nottinghamshire. Most of the estate is out-of-bounds to the public, but on its western edge the old estate gasworks have been turned into a small but attractive art gallery, which offers an imaginative programme of temporary exhibitions and a room packed full of the dukedom’s assorted paintings and rich memorabilia. There's the excellent Lime House Café and a fabulous farm shop that serves as a showcase for the produce of the estate. It’s a delightful spot, easy-going and relaxing place, though it’s a shame you can’t explore more of the estate and its historic buildings.
