Brodsworth Hall and Gardens
Brodsworth, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN5 7XJ
Brodsworth Hall was the home of the Thellusson family, who owned the this Victorian mansion for 120 years, and the unusual thing about it is that they left their possessions here pretty much as they were when they lived in the house. Not surprisingly it offers a fascinating insight into the life of wealthy family in Victorian England, and even the smallest family mementos remain, along with lots of items of furniture and decoration and the excellently preserved kitchen quarters and scullery. Outside, the house's collection of miniature Victorian gardens have been superbly restored, and include an Alpine rock garden, fern grotto and wild rose dell. Be sure also to stop off at the tearoom on your way out to enjoy one of their delicious homemade cakes.
