Deanes at Queens
1 College Garden, Belfast BT9 6BQ
Northern Irish chef and restauranteur Michael Deane owns an ever-growing portfolio of eating establishments throughout Belfast, indeed for 13 years he held a Michelin Star, the longest ever in Ireland, at his flagship restaurant on Howard Street. Deanes at Queens, one of his more recent additions, moves away from fine dining to emphasise hearty, tasty dishes produced using the very best local produce available. Officially it's a 'Bar & Grill' so salt-aged sirloin steak and homemade burgers sit comfortably alongside Glenarm salmon and duck. At the helm is head chef Chris Fearon, who has worked with Deane for four years and established himself as one of the city's best young cooks, taking centre stage on the Great British Menu in 2010 when he won the opportunity to create the Starter Course at the Winner's Banquet. But the nice thing about Deanes is its lack of formality less formality. with a bistro feel, an open terrace and Michael Deane's own branded beer on tap. It's very popular, though, so booking in advance is highly recommended.
