Sawers is something of an institution in Belfast. Established in 1897, Sawers once had shops in Belfast, Glasgow, Dublin and Birmingham but today it's only the Belfast store that remains. On entering you will be overwhelmed by the vast array of delicacies and treats that line the aisles from floor to ceiling. Foods from all around the world adorn the shelves, from Italian cakes and American chocolates to Mexican spices and Colombian coffee beans. The cheese counter is home to over 150 different types of cheese - there's always samples on offer to tickle your taste buds. Sawers is also renowned for its fabulous hampers and choice of gifts for food lovers - always a good idea to order early in the run up to Christmas! In addition to the gourmet groceries on offer, there's also a Deli to Go section offering wraps and sandwiches, all freshly made using the store's own ingredients. Outside on Fountain Street, there are some tables and chairs for those that can't wait until they get back to the office or return home before tasting their wares. Shopping at Sawers is an experience though usually a costly one... but quality doesn't come cheap!
