Barra Beach Landing
Isle of Barra Outer Hebrides
The best way to get to the Outer Hedridean island of Barra is to take one of the world’s most spectacular flights, and one of the few scheduled services that lands on a beach. The lowlevel flight from Glasgow on a vintage Twin Otter opens up swathes of west coast scenery, and then there is the landing right on to the sands of Traigh Mhor. Once you splash down make sure to nip into the terminal for a plate of cockles in garlic butter, which are picked from the beach you have just landed on. All very Barra.
