Arran Taste Trail
Market Road Brodick Isle of Arran KA27 8AU
The Clyde island of Arran has really emerged of late as something of a foodie destination with a string of local producers making the most of its rich natural larder. The Taste of Arran co-operative have brought most of them together. On an island that you can cycle around in a day there is a whisky distillery, a brewery, a creamery, a chocolatier, a smokehouse and no fewer than three cheese producers. They also have Wooleys, the island baker, who export their deliciously flavoured and textured oatcakes and oaties (wee oatcakes) all over the world. The local lamb and venison are superb too and are available in the island’s string of restaurants.
