Frankie’s
Brae Shetland ZE2 9QJ
Scotland, with its massive coastline, boasts many a superb chippy, but Frankie’s in Shetland has a fair claim to be the best. Indeed this little gem, situated in the coastal village of Brae, boasts a decent size dining room and even decking outside where you can enjoy the views. On the menu alongside traditional haddock are the likes of monkfish, hake and even king scallops – yes, we did say king scallops and mighty fine they are too, deep-fried with chips. A lighter option are the local blue shell mussels, which come steamed in their own vapour or moules mariniere style. They take MSC certification seriously, and everything is fried in beef dripping, giving that proper chippy taste. As good a chippy as you’ll find anywhere in the UK – indeed they won the No 1 UK Fish & Chip shop award in 2015, and quite right too!
