From the Copella juice family behind the Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa – deep in the heart of the Suffolk countryside – come these beautiful self-catering lodges, each full of light and fitted with high-spec kitchens and furnishings. They are an ideal alternative to the hotel for families, wedding parties or just couples who want a bit more flexibility in their stay. Interestingly, they are built on the site of the Women’s Land Army hostel that used to be
at the centre of the family estate, part of which has been
preserved as a small museum.
You can choose between one- and two-bedroom lodges, with large living rooms, contemporary kitchens and large wooden decks. Some of them overlook the hotel's golf course, while others have a more secluded, woodland feel. The truly nice thing is that you can use all the facilities of the hotel while retaining a bit more privacy in what is a lovely, secluded location, just a five- or ten-minute walk from the hotel's main building. You can also order in via a 24/7 porter, or hire your own chef to come over and serve a private dinner. Guests receive a welcome hamper on arrival containing tea, coffee, fresh milk, biscuits, wine – and a bottle of the Peake family's own Copella juice!
All in all it's a perfect spot for an indolent weekend break in the country, not too far from London. There are two golf courses, a state-of-the-art gym, a spa with indoor pool, hot tub and a range of blissful treatments on offer, and a well-equipped shop selling food and drink, clothes and gifts. There's a cosy bar and good restaurant at the hotel, plus a large terrace for balmy summer evenings.
