Comfy glamping pods and a timber-clad lodge on a magical Shropshire farm

School Farm Holidays offers rural stays in luxury glamping pods and a charming lodge on a small farm in Shropshire. So far, so good. But this is no ordinary glamping site. Indeed, it is so cute, so neat and so often lit up by beautiful sunsets that staying here feels quite magical, like something from one of Tolkien’s stories. The four curvy pods owe something to Hobbit homes too, although size-wise, they’re more of a Tardis. Each is a self-contained holiday home with its own bathroom, living area and kitchen with separate bedrooms sleeping between two and four. And, if that’s not big enough for your gang, you can opt for Stag Lodge – a timber-clad cabin with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a hot tub outside.
Whatever you choose, this charming farm is a perfect choice – not just for the accommodation but also its position amid the wonderful countryside of this idyllic county. It has views of one of Shropshire’s most familiar hills, The Wrekin, and is only three miles from medieval Much Wenlock, five from Wroxeter Roman City and a mere 15-minute drive from UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ironbridge.
There’s a lot to do out there, but you won’t get bored back on School Farm either, which extends across 60 acres. You can wander rewilded meadows, meet friendly pygmy goats and donkeys, and even pick your own fruit. There’s the chance to picnic by the brook, play ping pong in the games room and look out for wildlife from the farm’s deer hides.
The unique pods have high, vaulted ceilings and are super cosy with their own separate boilers. Beds are made, towels provided, there’s electricity, running water, an en-suite bath or shower room, a kitchenette and cosy seating with a TV. Owl Pod, situated at the quietest end of the site, offers an open-plan bolthole for two with a king-size bed and private hot tub (Squirrel Pod also has a private hot tub). All have outdoor seating on a private patio and a fire pit as well. Some are dog-friendly, others pet-free. In short, there’s something for everyone on this farm in The Shire!
