Georgian townhouse with stylish rooms and a first-rate restaurant in the capital of St Anne
This historic Georgian townhouse in the heart of Alderney's St Anne is full of charm, with plenty of character throughout. The family business comprises a traditional pub, contemporary restaurant and four guest rooms on the third floor. The ethos is simple: delicious food, attentive service and a comfortable place to lay your head for the night.
The en-suite rooms are named after rocks around the island – Coque Lihou, La Ronde, Ortac and Verte Tete – and you can choose from a small double, super king or twin. Whichever you opt for, there's a boutique vibe, with luxe bedding, tea and coffee facilities and fluffy bathrobes. Breakfast is served in the Walpole Room and is sure to set you up for the day, featuring a 'Full Alderney' with bacon and sausages from nearby Kiln Farm and local kippers.
For lunch and dinner, the short and seasonal menus are a mix of pub and European, with a strong seafood influence. There's also a lovely suntrap garden for outside dining or relaxing with a drink. In terms of location, The Georgian House is ideally situated for exploring – within walking distance of Platte Saline Beach and just a short walk from the ferry, where you can catch a boat to go puffin spotting or visit nearby islands.
