Michaelhouse Café
Trinity Street Cambridge CB2 1SU
The clever use of medieval St Michael’s church creates a modern café-restaurant that is part community centre, part academic hangout. It’s an appealing place, relaxing for breakfast and lunch, with delicious home-made mains prepared daily from local ingredients – excellent quiche, salads, roast aubergine and puy lentil casserole or beef, field mushroom and ale pie. A late lunch special from 2.30pm to 3.30pm provides full plates for £4.45. Inevitably it lacks that really warm cosy feel and has more of a stripped back 'basics' atmosphere, but it is none the worse for it. The food is fantastic, its as central as they come and at that price, this is a true gem!
