Botanic Garden
1 Brookside Cambridge CB2 1JE
Instigated by Charles Darwin’s botany professor in 1831, these university-affiliated gardens are acclaimed for their scientific value. For laymen, however, the appeal is in the sheer variety – over 8,000 plant species. Year round this remarkable diverse garden is worth a visit and with children you may prefer to venture into the green houses, home to the carnivorous plants. The colours of the flora are interspersed with the trickling of water fountains and its a great place to break from the bustling streets in summer to wander amongst the peace of this historic garden.
