Great St Mary’s
Kings Parade Cambridge CB2 1ST
The tower of the ‘University Church’ that hosted graduation ceremonies until the 1700s offers an elevated view over historic cambridge. Visitors here will be walking in the footsteps of Richard III, Elizabeth I, Cardinal Wolsey, Oliver Cromwell and countless others who have paced the church since its construction in 1478. Hang around till the hour and you may recognize the bells’ chime – it was composed in the 1700s by two undergraduates, then popularised by Big Ben in London. Entry to St Mary's is free with a charge to climb the tower.
