Jesus Green & Midsummer Common
Victoria Avenue Cambridge CB4
One of the most charming things about Cambridge is its compact size, a bustling little city where everything is well within walking distance. Nowhere does this seem more true than Jesus Green and Midsummer Common, a space that feels like an out of town retreat yet is somehow in the middle of the city! Follow the locals on sun-drenched days to these adjacent riverside parks. The former features the UK’s largest outdoor lido – 100m of 1920s vintage – while the latter is a bucolic meadow with grazing cows. Sit at the Fort St George pub with a pint and watch university rowing teams scull past on this quieter section of the river cam. At the end of the day its a few paces and your back in the humming cobbled streets of the city. A countryside spot a stones throw from the centre.
