Not your usual art gallery, this. You’re encouraged to sit on chairs and leaf through books in the former home of Jim Ede, both a stylish cottage filled with his objets d’art and a gallery of work by friends he made as a Tate Gallery curator in the 1930s: paintings by Ben and Winifred Nicholson, Christopher Wood, David Jones and Joan Miro, sculpture by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. A gallery space hangs exhibitions of 20th-century art and creative kids’ art events a few times a month.
