The Backs
Silver Street Cambridge
Named because it passes the colleges’ back gardens, this park-like expanse provides a short scenic stroll. Between the bridges at Silver Street and Magdalene Street it contains all the classic images of Cambridge such as punts beneath the bridge of Clare College and King’s College chapel rising behind an immaculately clipped lawn. Wandering the backs is an ideal way to take in all that is quintessential to cambridge, though ultimately to truly view this beautiful area it's best to head across Silver Street and take out a punt. Since many of the college gardens are restricted to students only, taking to the water is the easiest way to meander through.
