Seaham Hall is home to the northeast’s most luxurious spa – the place to go if you’re after some serious pampering. With its flickering candles and delicious wafting aromas, the spa has the whole package: Turkish hamman, ozone-cleansed pool, steam room, outdoor hot tubs and plunge pool, as well as a huge selection of delectable treatments. It's located at the five-star boutique hotel experience that is Seaham Hall – the country mansion where Lord Byron was married, if you need any further inducement – and it's 14 miles from the city, out on the Durham heritage coast. You don’t need to stay at the hotel to visit the spa, although it’s doubtful you’ll want to leave and return to the real world any time soon.
