On a windy day, Poole harbour is packed with kitesurfers, windsurfers and sailors, and while the breeze becalms out come the kayaks, waterskiers and power boats. You can rent out equipment or take a course for all kinds of watersports, and it’s a particularly good place for beginners to learn as there are large stretches of shallow waters – if you capsize, you’ll only get wet up to your knees.
