Bournemouth’s only vegan restaurant, the Mad Cucumber is a great place to hang out – and you don’t have to be vegan or even a veggie to enjoy the vibe here. The food here is tasty enough that even carnivores will be tempted, with dishes such as mushroom stroganoff, or chickpea patties with salad and rice. The cakes are fantastic too, including carrot, coconut and chocolate brownies, all made with vegan ingredients, though you really wouldn’t know it. Interesting drinks are also on offer, such as elderflower and raspberry infusions, and there’s a good selection of games and books to browse, plus comfy sofas to hole up on.
