Winchester’s award-winning farmers’ market is the largest in the country, with nearly a hundred stalls selling (and cooking) Hampshire produce ranging from artisan breads to water-buffalo burgers. Look out for watercress from the nearby Itchen Valley, a local speciality on sale in various guises, including watercress scones and watercress pesto. This is a colourful and bustling place to wander around and even if you don't plan to buy anything you'll struggle to browse through the delightful smelling stalls without leaving with a bulging bag or two.
