Old Bakery Restaurant
28 Burton Rd Lincoln LN1 3LB
This well-established restaurant, just near the cathedral, is commonly regarded as Lincoln’s prime spot. The decor in the main room is cosy rural chic and the conservatory out at the back is light and airy, a suitable setting for an inventive, British-based menu. Main courses are a real highlight – pan–fried spinach and sage–stuffed guinea fowl with cannellini beans and seasonal vegetables is a typical example. The restaurant also prides itself on its selection of British cheeses, with distinctive offerings like 'Dambusters' and a very mature 'Lincolnshire Poacher' leading the charge. The Old Bakery has a first–rate cellar too, its assorted vintages used to accompany special 'taster menus' – whose details are on their website. They also have four en-suite rooms if you fancy staying the night here.
