A truly unique and luxurious country retreat that is ideal for a group holiday
A converted chapel in the rural Lincolnshire village of Glentworth, around 10 miles east of Gainsborough, The Old Chapel is a special property – a truly unique retreat that can accommodate up to 11 guests in six bedrooms. It's perfect for family gatherings and special occasions, or just for a gathering of a group of good friends, a really characterful holiday home blends an undeniable and real historic charm with all the modern comforts you need. Plus it's dog-friendly, so all the family can come!
There's no question that this is a beautiful restoration of a historic property, which is spread across three floors and has been furnished throughout with style and flair. There's has underfloor heating throughout, and a beautifully designed, bright and airy kitchen–diner, complete with a range cooker and wine cooler, and with all the other amenities you might be used to, including a dishwasher, a breakfast bar and large dining table, beyond which modern sliding doors slide right across to reveal a wide patio with well-chosen garden furniture, a fire pit, barbecue and hot tub. The expansive sitting room has a wood-burner, a grand piano and doors that open onto to the ample garden.
Upstairs feels more historic, with a floor added into the vaulted beams of the original building and a thoroughly ecclesiastical rose window letting light onto the landing. You can enjoy a game of pool in the games room, or simply admire the views from the Juliet balcony. There are five bedrooms up here - three with super-king-size beds, plus another with a king-size and a single; there's a sixth bedroom with a king-size bed on the ground floor, making this property also a good choice for someone of limited mobility.
Given all this luxury, you probably won't want to leave home for a day or two. But once you've settled in, it's worth knowing that there is plenty to do nearby, including the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape, Hartsholme Country Park and Whisby Nature Park, and Lincoln, with its magnificent cathedral, is only 20 minutes away by car. For eating out, try the Inn on the Green in nearby Ingham, or the Dambusters Inn in Scampton – named after the daring WWII raid, which originated in Scampton.
