The Asknish Bay Restaurant at the Loch Melfort Hotel boasts one of the finest settings in Scotland, gazing out over the Atlantic towards the Hebrides. Settle into their lounge bar by the roaring fire and peruse an impressive menu that showcases the finest of local red meat, game and seafood. A highlight are the regular tasting nights, where you can savour seven courses with accompanying wines. Prices are surprisingly keen, despite cooking that is often refined and complex: whether you are just in for dinner or working your way through a tasting feast, dishes include the likes of lemon sole and scallop mousse in a champagne sauce or roast stuffed venison loin laced with local Oban whisky. Wines are keenly priced too and a decent range of single malt whiskies and Scottish gins back them up. The Botanist gin comes from Islay just across the water.
