Waterside Bistro
1-5 Waterside Haddington East Lothian EH41 4AT
This little gem hides away on the banks of the River Tyne in the sleepy market town of Haddington in East Lothian. It sits right by the river with a charming old stone bridge rising above, and the drama of St. Mary’s Church (the longest church in Scotland) impressing across the water. The emphasis is on fresh local produce with the likes of Borders beef and local farm reared pork, with some daring forays into less popular meats such as seared mutton. The wine list is very keenly priced with the superb East Lothian cider Thistly Cross also available. This wee oasis manages to be all things to all people. Come for a quick pint by the river, a light snack and a beer with mates or enjoy a candlelit dinner for two. They are also seriously family friendly with wee ones given the kind of warm welcome that is still sadly rare in Britain, with a big basket of toys and books on hand too.
