Crannog Restaurant
Town Pier Fort William PH33 6DB
The Crannog is the stuff of Highland legend, a
seafood oasis right on the shores of Loch Linnhe where the marine delights are
as impressive as the grandeur of the Highland scenery. Local sourcing is, of
course, key and there is plenty of white fish and shellfish to be had. The cosy
interior makes the most of the setting with big windows gazing out over the
water and mountains. The menu dishes up the likes of Mallaig langoustines and a
rich bounty of haddock, salmon and sole. The undoubted highlight, though, is
the roast shellfish platter for two, a gargantuan feast teeming with mussels,
surf clams, langoustines, crab claw and lobster. A glass of crisp New Zealand
Sauvignon Blanc is on hand to wash things down, with a wee dram an option too
as a digestif. After your meal you can even stroll out on to the pier outside
and enjoy a scenic cruise. With Ben Nevis towering above and porpoises
patrolling the waters it is an ideal way to end an unforgettable treat.
