Located at the heart of one of the most spectacular
and iconic landscapes in Europe, this place is a year-round magnet for those
who appreciate Scotland’s rugged beauty and outdoor activities. Hiking,
running, skiing, white-water rafting, mountain biking…all these and more are
catered for (depending on the season) in a setting that will take your breath
away. Glencoe Youth Hostel is perfect if you fancy a walk up the Lost Valley or
want to tackle Britain's finest ridge walk, the Aonach Eagach, which ends at
the youth hostel; and it is only a ten-minute stroll to
the celebrated haunt of walkers and climbers, the 16th century
Clachaig Inn which proclaims ‘No Hawkers, No Campbells’ at its entrance, a
reference to the chilling massacre in the Glen of the MacDonalds by the clan
Campbell in 1692 which has made the area infamous ever since.
The youth hostel is popular with walkers, climbers and families, with the usual budget multi-share accommodation but also private family rooms too. It has a large open plan kitchen/dining room, with ample cooking facilities and dining tables, an alcohol licence and wi-fi. Dogs are welcome, but if your name is Campbell, it might be best to book under another name!
