House of Bruar

Deep in Highland Perthshire, just off the Edinburgh–Inverness A9 road, is one of Scotland’s most famous independent retail outlets. Rising castle-like by the road, it's a smorgasbord of fine food, Scottish clothing and all things both tasteful and twee. The Food Hall is mesmerising, with every Scottish culinary goodie you can think of, from rich Dunsyre Blue cheese to salty Salar smoked salmon; but there's cashmere, knitwear and plenty of tartan too – and, if you haven't shopped till you've dropped, some good local walks too if you want to make a day of it.
