This stylish holiday home roots you in the very heart of Perthshire, between the town of Aberfeldy and Kenmore on the banks of Loch Tay. There’s a lot to explore, but even if you stay put in this self-catering property, you won’t forget where you are. That’s because it’s been cleverly designed to make the most of the view – with huge windows from the open-plan living space looking out over the Perthshire Hills. This space, with its double-height ceiling, mid-century furniture and statement log burner, sets the tone for the rest of the house. It’s modern, light and airy, stylish and warm.
Sleeping six in three bedrooms, the house is ideal for large or extended families and is dog-friendly too, so no one has to be left behind. Living space, bedrooms and bathrooms are all on one level, so there’s a lovely sense of flow and it’s a really sociable space. Huge doors to the enclosed rear garden and outdoor dining area mean that extends to the outside as well. Your kids can be playing in the garden while you cook or relax on the sofa. There’s space for everyone to do their thing, but you’ll still feel connected.
The master has a king-size bed and its own en-suite shower room. The other two bedrooms, a twin and a double, share a family bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate free-standing bath. Everything feels clean and uncluttered, but underfloor heating, curtains, blankets and soft furnishings make it homely at the same time. That clever blending of vintage and modern style continues in the kitchen, where stainless steel appliances sit alongside a butler sink on an island, all under pendant lights.
It’s not only pleasingly designed, but well equipped as well, so self-catering is easy and picking up local produce is also a cinch. Aberfeldy is just a couple of miles away, an hour’s walk alongside the River Tay if you fancy it. There, you’ll find a good butcher, a baker and a Co-op – not to mention its own distillery. And there are plenty of places to eat out too. In the other direction, Kenmore is a picturesque village on the banks of Loch Tay where you can launch onto the water or visit the Scottish Crannog Centre to find out how people lived in this area 2500 years ago.
