On the other side of the (railway) tracks to most of the town's venues, on the banks of the Spey towards the Cairngorms, this is Aviemore's classiest and cosiest pub. Set in a beautiful old stone building, a great selection of Scottish beers and whiskies are served in the friendly bar and the food is exceptional – even if the menu is rather incongruously upmarket (and not cheap – don't expect a bangers-and-mash option). A roaring fire adds to the atmosphere, and there's live music on many nights. Just the thing after a hard day on the slopes.
