Millennium Stadium
Westgate Street Cardiff CF10 1NS
Smack bang in the heart of the city, the magnificent Millennium Stadium is a must-see. Opened in 1999, the 74,500-seater stadium, with its amazing retractable roof, was built on the site of the old Arms Park. It was rotated 90 degrees in the process and was a pretty tight squeeze, with the River Taff restricting access on one side. Guided tours take in the dressing rooms and players tunnel, press centre and VIP areas, and if you’re lucky, you may also get to go pitchside. By far the best way to experience the Millennium stadium though, is to attend a sporting event – there are few venues anywhere in the world capable of generating the kind of atmosphere that this wonderful amphitheatre does.
