It's been in existence since 1894, so Spillers has a pretty good claim to being the world’s oldest record shop. That alone is enough of a reason to visit, but it also remains Cardiff’s most iconic independent outlet – not particularly large, but with a superb breadth to its stock, both in vinyl and CD format. Expect to find just about any genre of music, from indie, rock and roots, to punk, reggae and blues, plus all the latest Welsh sounds. The young, friendly staff know their stuff, and will happily inform on any aspect of the local music scene, pointing you in the direction of the hottest new bands or most obscure gigs.
