Oaklands Glamping

Situated in a sensational hilltop location in the green, rolling heart of mid-Wales, Oaklands Glamping is a high-end glamping site that more than merits the journey – adults-only, wonderfully remote, and blessed not only with the super luxury Heartwood Treehouse but also with a couple of high-end but comfortable boutique safari tents. In many ways it's a perfect spot for both novice and serious glampers: luxurious enough for someone who frankly would rather be staying in a five-star hotel, but also wild enough to satisfy even the most hardcore outdoorsy type! The brainchild of owners Shaphan and Abigail Davies, its a zero-hassle adults-only glampsite in a great location.

Oaklands' two safari tents, Bluebell and Foxglove (named after the site's resident flower species), sleep two and are perfect for couples. You may be surprised at just how comfortable they both are, with an all-singing, all-dancing kitchen-diner complete with a cosy wood-burning stove, small hob, mini-fridge and a dining table and chairs, plus a living area with 3-seater sofa. The tents each have a bedroom with a king-size bed, and a bathroom with a beautiful roll-top bath, toilet, sink, thick cotton towels and plush toiletries.

Outside, the private outdoor decking is equipped with your own barbecue area and fire pit, along with a wood-fired hot tub from which to enjoy not only the stars but also the earthbound beauty of this unique location, with only birdsong and the distant rush of the Banwy River below to disturb you. Beyond the site, attractions include the Welshpool and Llanfair steam railway, medieval Powis Castle, Lake Vyrnwy and Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest waterfall in Wales. You're also just an hour from either Snowdonia or Aberdovey Beach – although you may find that with all this comfort, birdsong and bucolic beauty in one place, there's little need to go anywhere at all!
