Kilnwick Percy

A restaurant, a bar, a golf course and spa facilities – Kilnwick Percy has all the hallmarks of a country hotel but with one remarkable difference. Your hotel room or suite isn't reached down carpeted corridors but along pathways with views of trees and green space. The hotel pods sit in 180 acres of woodland which surrounds Kilnwick Percy’s 18-hole golf course. Whether you’re here to play a round or not, it’s a lovely place to stay, just 15 miles from the historic city of York.

Aside from the lush, green surroundings, your pod here offers everything you’d expect from a hotel. Beds are well dressed in quality linen, towels are neatly folded on top. There’s a contemporary en-suite bathroom and tea- and coffee-making facilities too. There’s a hairdryer in the drawer and a TV mounted on the wall. It’s a comfortable base for two with the golf course and woodland walks right outside, and the clubhouse, with its restaurant and bar, nearby. And that’s not to mention the Tranquility Spa and The Box Gym, both housed in separate buildings and available for a small extra charge as part of your stay.

There’s a room to suit just about everyone: twins, doubles, super-kings and suites with four-poster beds, and dog-friendly options as well. You can book on a room-only basis or opt for bed and breakfast or half-board stays with meals served in the light and airy Glasshouse Restaurant, with its terrace overlooking the golf course. For family stays, there are also self-catering lodges. The flexible set up and clean, modern design across guest spaces is typical of Darwin Escapes, the parent company behind Kilnwick Percy.

This is the company’s only option in Yorkshire and they’ve chosen an excellent spot. KP, as it’s affectionately known, is at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, an excellent area for walking. It’s just two miles from the market town of Pocklington and a half-hour drive from York with its famous minster, cobbled lanes and medieval half-timbered buildings. And when you’ve had enough of its bustling streets, you can retreat back to peaceful Kilnwick Percy for a day on the golf course and perhaps an hour or two in the spa.
