Glamorgan
Made up of the three unitary authorities of West, Mid and South Glamorgan, this relatively small region of South Wales is nonetheless the most densely populated part of the principality. The area it covers stretches from Cardiff in the far southeast up to Merthyr Tydfil in the north and Swansea in the far west, and as a tourist region it's chock-full of interest, with the country's two largest and most vibrant cities and a nice stretch of coast between fabled Barry Island and Llantwit Major. Its jewel in the crown, though, is perhaps The Mumbles and the glorious Gower Peninsula, beyond Swansea, the first area in the UK to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – and it's not hard to see why, with golden beaches and high cliffs that makes the very best walking country. Cardiff and Swansea offer great places to stay if you want to enjoy a spot of city life, but there are hotels, B&Bs and self-catering properties right across the region that can provide a base for what can be a brilliant taster of Wales without travelling too far.Best Places to Stay in Glamorgan Holidays – Accommodation and Places to Stay in Glamorgan I Cool Places
