A 17th-century stately home with interiors by architect Sir John Soane, gorgeous gardens by Capability Brown, a wonderful children’s zoo of rare breeds to pet and organic produce in a café and store. No surprise that this National Trust 2,500-acre estate eight miles southwest of Cambridge is a popular day out for all the family. For walking and cycling there's heaps of space, roaming through the open parkland littered with sheep and dotted with trees. While, in Wimpole Hall itself, there are educational demonstrations and activities to keep all entertained. From the milling of grain to the spinning of sheep's wool, ye olde countryside is brought back to life and provides a full day out just a short drive from cambridge.
