Situated on the shore at Start Point, just a few miles from Kingsbridge, the Cricket Inn was once a quaint old fishing inn but is now a light and spacious gastropub specialising modern British food, in particular fish and seafood, that makes the most of its south Devon location. The kitchen team are passionate about sourcing local produce for their fantastic dishes, which are in turn a perfect complement to the glorious views across Start Bay, which you can enjoy al fresco in summer. The fish pancake is fantastic value, stuffed full of enough fish and seafood to satisfy the hungriest diner; local crab, lobster and scallops are cooked to perfection and the battered fish and chips are a treat; plus there is fabulous local lamb and beef from the green rolling pastures that surround, and the service is great – relaxed and friendly and attentive all at the same time. The locals haven’t deserted the place either – it’s still a great place to stop for a friendly pint and a chat – and walking groups are welcome, as are dogs and children. There are also seven rooms to stay in for guests, five with sea views, if you fancy staying longer. Our kind of place, without question.

A sophisticated yet chic bar & restaurant welcomes you on arrival, the bi folding doors open in the summer months so you can experience dining Al Fresco. A superb, local & fresh menu is put together by the Head Chef, Scott Simon. After spending a short period of time with 2 Michelin starred chef Michael Caine’s, he made an exceptional reputation for himself and was first awarded 1 rosette at AA standard in 2008. Scott and his innovative chefs alter the menu regularly so a variety of dishes can be sampled alongside our extensive wine list & local ales.
