Located on an idyllic creek off the River Dart, just a few miles from Totnes, this pub offers a warm welcome, great beer, pretty good food and a tranquil atmosphere that’s regularly livened up with live music, beer festivals and other local events. Once owned by TV chef Keith Floyd, the food is cooked from fresh local ingredients and the menu changes daily according to what’s available, but there’s always a good selection of meat, fish (including local oysters) and veggie dishes. If the sun shines (or at least if it’s not raining), there’s also a barbecue outside on the quay serving steaks, sausages, fish and veggie options. Allow yourself plenty of time if you fancy getting a table with a waterside view.
